Heritage Walk – Reclaiming a Sacred Space

“And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.”
– Isaiah 61:4

Join us on July 5th, 2025 as we walk to restore a historic house of worship in Loughborough.

In 1878, Holy Trinity Church opened its doors to serve the people of Loughborough. Nearly 150 years later, the building still stands — a testament to faith, heritage, and community.

Now, RCCG Cornerstone Parish has the opportunity to restore this beautiful, historic building to its original purpose as a house of worship.

By joining the Heritage Walk, you are helping us reclaim sacred ground, honour the past, and build a future where generations can once again worship in this timeless space.

Vision for Restoration

Our vision is to restore the former Holy Trinity Church not only as a historic landmark but as a vibrant, Spirit-filled home for worship, discipleship, and community outreach. We believe that reclaiming this sacred space will serve as a powerful testimony to God’s faithfulness and provide a permanent base for RCCG Cornerstone Parish to grow, serve, and impact generations to come.

We see this building as more than bricks and stone — it is a symbol of continuity, spiritual heritage, and kingdom purpose. Once restored, the building will be used for Sunday worship, youth and children’s ministries, Bible studies, prayer gatherings, leadership training, and local outreach programmes that bless the wider Loughborough community.

Do I need to be super fit to take part?

No! The walk is not a race. It is a steady, relaxed community walk with stewards, rest points, and optional stops. If you can manage a gentle stroll, you can take part!

Is the walk family-friendly?

Absolutely. However, for safety reasons, we only accept registration from adults aged 18 and above. You are responsible for the safety of your child(ren) if you decide to get them involved. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

We do have games and activities planned for all ages at the start and end location.

We will go ahead in light rain or drizzle, so dress appropriately. If severe weather is forecast (e.g. storms or flooding), we’ll notify participants of any changes at least 24 hours before the event.

How do I sign up?

Simply click the “Register to Walk” button on our website or speak to a team member at church. Once registered, we’ll help you set up your fundraising page.

How do I raise funds?

Each walker is asked to aim for a £500 fundraising target. We will guide you in setting up an online sponsor page and provide tips to help you reach your goal. You can also collect donations offline using a sponsorship form we will provide.

Yes! You can walk with family, friends, your fellowship group, or your department. Just let us know when registering so we can keep your group together.

Also please note, parents/guardians are responsible for children (aged 18 and below).

What happens during the walk?

You will receive a route map. During the walk, we will stop at various heritage buildings around Loughborough for a short talk and prayer. We are currently in talks with the leaders of these churches and will update as we go on.

What happens after the walk?

We will end the walk with a BBQ, music, games, and celebration! It’s a great chance to unwind, connect, and reflect on what we’ve achieved together. Walkers are also encouraged to submit any remaining donations within one week.

Where is the money going?

All funds raised will go toward the purchase and restoration of the historic former Holy Trinity Church Building in Loughborough — the future permanent home of RCCG Cornerstone Parish.

Community Unites to Reclaim Historic Church Building Through Heritage Prayer Walk

Loughborough, UK – On Saturday 5th July 2025, local residents, church members, and heritage supporters will lace up their walking shoes for a cause that blends faith, history, and community. The Heritage Prayer Walk, organised by RCCG Cornerstone Parish Loughborough, aims to raise vital funds to purchase and restore the former Holy Trinity Church building—a landmark structure built in 1878 and rich with architectural and spiritual significance.

After more than a decade of worshipping in rented venues, RCCG Loughborough has agreed an offer to buy the beautiful Grade II listed building, ensuring it continues to serve its original purpose as a place of worship and community engagement.

“This is more than a property transaction,” said Pastor Chuka Duru, parish Pastor at RCCG Loughborough. “It is about honouring the spiritual heritage of our town. Holy Trinity Church has stood since 1878 as a place of worship and refuge, and we feel privileged to help ensure it continues to serve that purpose for generations to come.”

Walk Details

The walk will cover key historic churches across Loughborough, including All Saints, Emmanuel, St Peter’s, and culminate at the Holy Trinity site. Participants will stop to pray, reflect, and honour the town’s spiritual heritage.

The church is seeking 50 volunteer walkers, each aiming to raise £500 through their individual JustGiving pages. Walkers do not need to be RCCG members—only people who care about community, heritage, and faith. After the walk, participants are invited to a time of refreshment, prayer, and testimony.
