Text: 1 Corinthians 13:11
According to our Bible text, Paul told us how a child is known
i. By speech
ii. By his level of comprehension
iii. By his reasoning or thinking
But when Paul became a man, he put away those childlike traits, meaning that growth had taken place in his life.
As we experience growth physically, it is also expected of us as believers to also grow spiritually.
i. 1 Samuel 2:26 – Samuel grew
ii. Luke 2:40. 52 – Jesus grew
iii. Luke 1:80 – John grew
It is important to note that as God’s children, we are heirs of God (Romans 8:15-17). This means that we are legally entitled to everything that God owns.
However, the ownership to everything that our heavenly has is not automatic. If we must have access to those things and enjoy them, our Father expects us to grow into maturity so that he can commit those things into our hands.
Paul tells us in Galatians 4:1 (KJV) “That the heir, as long as he is a child, different nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all.
This means that that the heir as long as he remains a child cannot be entrusted with His father’s inheritance until he comes of age. The same way, there are things God will never commit to us, until we have grown spiritually. Not even our prayers or tears no matter how long we cry, will make Him change His mind. If we must receive them, then we must grow in spiritual maturity.
